Keys to writing Resolution

HW:  Work on your resolutions, and get them as perfect as possible!
Below are some tips.  Also see the resolution handout under the "Class Handouts" page as you begin to get more detailed work.
YOUR RESOLUTION SHOULD PROPOSE A SOLUTION TO THE ISRAEL/PALESTINE CONFLICT, AND ADDRESS BOTH THE RIGHT OF RETURN AND THE ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS IN THE WEST BANK

Preambular phrases:

--Set up background information that supports your resolution

--Mentions Israeli Settlements and Right of Return

--Cites at least 3 sources in MLA, in-text.

--Minimum of 5 clauses to get a passing grade.  Up to ten clauses is highly encouraged to get a higher grade.

--Each phrase ends in a comma

Operative Clauses:

--States the actions your country wishes the UN to take to resolve the conflict, including actions to resolve conflict around Israeli settlements and Palestinian Right of Return

--Options are listed on the packet.  Could also make up your own solution.

--Remember to include timelines and incentives and consequences (could include sanctions, military action, humanitarian aid, diplomatic recognition of Palestinians, etc)

--Remember to include language and actions that will get other countries to support your resolution

--Your solution represents your country’s interests and goals.
