Hi scholars!
A reminder that we have a quiz tomorrow on the topics we have covered so far. To prepare, review your sociology lecture notes that you took during the slideshow these past two days. If you need to see the slideshow again, you can find it here. You should know basic terms, including the elements of culture, the different types of norms, what sanctions are, and subcultures and countercultures. It will be a short quiz, only fifteen minutes, unless you have spoken to me and ESS and have gotten permission for extra time.
Tomorrow we will:
--Hear a quick talk from Rachael Sands who guides you in the college admissions project (she is doing this with all Humanities classes this and next week)
--Take the quiz
--Do a starter (#3) on agent and target groups
--Review the learning goals sheet. I know there was some confusion about the concepts in this handout today, so we will review everything together to make sure we are on the same page.
--Begin a mini-project; you will have a choice of either doing a poster or a powerpoint. You'll learn more about these options tomorrow.
Thank you for your hard work. These texts and concepts can be confusing and challenging, and confusion is an essential step in the learning process. If you're not confused at some point, you're not challenging yourself. Hopefully we will clear up some of that confusion tomorrow. Keep it up :)
